21/01/2016: Testament to its broad safety concept, Euro NCAP have awarded the Volkswagen Touran the title of ‘Best in Class’ in the competitive MPV category.
Euro NCAP put 40 car models, from a range of manufacturers, through their intensive safety testing in 2015. The tests include vigorous assessment of the vehicle’s performance in occupant protection for children and adults, pedestrian protection and driver assistance systems, before presenting an overall score and publishing the list of those who ranked highest for the year.
The Volkswagen Touran notched up an impressive five stars, showing particular excellence in its optimised vehicle body structure, allowing for maximum passenger protection in head-on collisions. The Touran also boasts some impressive standard systems, such as Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with countersteer assistance and ABS and Automatic Post-Collision Braking.
Pre-Crash proactive occupant protection also gives the Touran an edge, autonomously activating ahead of any crash so it can take preventative measures to reduce intensity. Automatic tightening of safety belts will occur when the system predicts skidding, as well as closing the windows and sunroof, to ensure the head support and side airbag activation can be prioritised.
All in all, the Volkswagen Touran is proud to be one of Europe’s safest cars.
The only way to discover what the Volkswagen Touran is really like is to take a test drive. We would be delighted to arrange this for you (either from the showroom, your office or home).
