Volkswagen are currently focussing on the Chinese market as a pedestal for pioneering ranges of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, to be produced in a new design and development centre within the country.
The T-Prime Concept GTE shows off the theory behind new electric technology, offering a glimpse of what’s to come in the next three to four years. The innovative SUV is a plug-in hybrid, with sublime premium quality and all the hallmarks of a future flagship model.
The all-new Magotan has also been unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show, based on the modular transverse matrix; a strategy using front-engine, front-wheel drive and a high-tech drive train. The new PHIDEON Nisa premium class saloon also thrilled Chinese audiences, with all-wheel drive and future plans for a plug-in hybrid option.
The BUDD-e concept also boasts trailblazing electrical drive technology, featuring the Modular Electric Drive Kit, allowing for an 80% battery re-charge in 30 minutes, alongside touch and gesture controls, infotainment panels and digital screens in place of analogue mirrors.
