The Volkswagen Scirocco has successfully made a name for itself as a go-to vehicle for drivers who crave value for money, without compromising on style. Riding on the success of previous releases, Volkswagen have launched two special edition models which build on the Scirocco’s existing reputation of good looks, advanced technology and a competitive price.
The new Scirocco Black Edition models (GT and R-Line) feature black painted alloy wheels, a statement black contrast roof, door mirrors and rear spoiler and 90% tinted windows, giving the coupe a chic exterior which is unparalleled in its price bracket, especially when paired with the dynamic mechanics beneath the bonnet.
With six turbocharged direct-injection petrol or diesel engines to choose from, each one will pack a punch while still meeting EU6 emission standards and return between 67.3 and 35.3 mpg. Both editions in the petrol range include a 1.4 litre 125 PS or a 2.0 litre 180 PS unit, while the diesel engines (both 2.0 litre) offer either 150 PS or 184 PS. Depending on the engine and transmission you choose, the 0-62 mph sprint ranges between 9.3 and 5.5 seconds, while top speeds vary between 126 mph and 155 mph.
The Scirocco also offers a comprehensive multimedia set-up which focusses on passenger comfort and entertainment. Equipment included as standard includes the Composition Media system with 6.5-inch colour touch-screen, Bluetooth telephone and audio connection, DAB digital radio receiver, MDI (Multi Device Interface) via USB connection, SD card reader and single CD player, air conditioning, automatic headlights and wipers, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, height-adjustable sports seats and multifunction leather-coated steering wheel.
The Scirocco GT is also primed with Discover Navigation, offering branded points of interest, dynamic navigation based on TMC+, preloaded European navigation data and Fast, Short and Eco route options. The GT also pushes the boat out with additional perks such as 2Zone climate control, dark-tinted rear windows, front fog lights, front and rear parking sensors, black roof lining and aluminium-look pedals.
It’s a plush package at a surprising price, which has become the Scirocco’s staple. If that wasn’t enough, though, the peak Scirocco R models have an extra taste of luxury. Dynamic Chassis Control, unique ‘R’ sports suspension, be-xenon headlights and a bespoke ‘R’ styling pack are just some of the features which give the Scirocco a little extra opulence.
Volkswagen Scirocco GT Black Edition and R-Line Black Edition models are available to order now, with first registrations due in January 2016.
The only way to discover what the Volkswagen Scirocco is really like is to take a test drive. We would be delighted to arrange this for you (either from the showroom, your office or home).
