With the temperature plummeting to below 7°C, SKODA UK are urging drivers to consider using climate-appropriate parts.
The survey, which was orchestrated by the Czech brand, revealed that only 14% of respondents owned cold weather tyres, with 49% of those polled citing that the lowest price was their top priority when making buying decisions, not aptness.
A fifth of motorists also declared that they hadn’t checked their tyres for at least sixth months – A worrying statistic which implied that around 22 million tyres across the country could have tread depths that fall below the recommended levels. ‘TyreSafe’ strongly recommend that tyres are checked every month to ensure that they have not experienced excessive wear and tear, which could lead to serious danger on the road.
Cold weather tyres are designed to offer maximum grip and braking performance winter weather, which could save lives by preventing loss of control in ice and snow.
SKODA UK recommend that drivers seek peace of mind by approaching retailers for a Winter Health Check, which will safety check seven critical points, including tyres, for FREE from Ridgeway SKODA in Oxford, Reading & Newbury.
