The ALL4 will be the brand’s first all-wheel drive venture into the C-segment, with the system being re-developed to suit the practical and versatile nature of the Clubman. Looking to offer something fresh to the market, the ALL4 Clubman will feature the latest in MINI’s engineering advancements, bearing a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine with MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology and 6-speed manual transmission (with an optional 8-speed Steptronic also available).
The MINI Cooper SD Clubman ALL4 will feature a 190 hp diesel engine with 400 NM of torque, working in sync with an 8-speed Steptronic transmission, all as standard.
MINI Plant Oxford will be the first factory to roll the ALL4 off the production line, focussing on the notably high specification that this particular series will enjoy. MINI’s highly commended Navigation System will be part of the package on every ALL4, with the MINI Excitement Package also part of the customary setup. This will include a striking projection of the brand logo on to the ground beneath the driver’s side door mirror when the car is opened and closed, as well as extended interior lighting to add to the signature MINI ambiance.
The statement all-wheel drive functionality of the ALL4 will be compact and lightweight, increasing efficiency and only adding a slight increase to fuel consumption and exhaust emissions, when compared to the respective front-wheel drive models. Wheel rotation speeds, Driving Dynamics System (DSC) settings and optional MINI Driving Modes will combine to calculate the risk of wheel slip, countering any loss of traction, oversteer or understeer, thus making the ALL4 both a safe and enjoyable way to experience four-wheel drive.
Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Cornering Brake Control (CBD), braking and drive-off assistant, brake dry function and Fading Brake Support DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) add to the safety line-up of the MINI ALL4’s versatile capabilities, offsetting the resistance of loose sand or deep snow.
Drivers and passengers will also be exceptionally protected in the MINI ALL4, with six airbags, 3-point automatic belts on all seats and ISOFIX child seat mountings at the rear. A tyre pressure display will offer information for each individual wheel, while impact absorbers on specific zones will ensure the upmost pedestrian safety. A MINI Head-Up Display extends from above the steering column, minimizing distraction to the driver, while a Driving Assistant will feature camera-based active cruise control, with collision and pedestrian warning. A high beam headlight assistant helps to detect road signs, while additional extras include a Parking Assistant and rear view camera.
The ‘Chili’ pack is pipped to be an extremely popular add-on, enhancing the MINI ALL4 with even more appealing extras. The collection will include cloth/leather upholstery with heated sports seats, MINI’s comfort access system, park distance control, automatic air conditioning, LED headlights and LED fog lights amongst a host of embellishments. The Chili pack will be priced at £2,785 across all models – A significant 30% saving on the MINI Cooper Clubman when compared to the individual purchase of each feature.
The new MINI Clubman ALL4 will be released in April, priced from £24,305 OTR.
