Mission Motorsport, a charity which helps ex-service people find careers in the motor industry, has received welcome sponsorship from Land Rover. The pair will join forces for the 2016 Defender Challenge, comprising of seven rounds of hill and stage rallies.
14 teams driving modified Land Rover Defender 90s will compete for the winning title, with Mission Motorsport using the platform to assist its ‘Race Retrain Recover’ programme, with service leavers joining various teams to help produce technical, driving and navigation support. An accredited City and Guilds training provider, Mission Motorsport will also deliver Level 3 Diploma Courses and full apprenticeships to those who have left military service. This is often an essential resource for those who have had to leave the services due to illness or injury, bridging the gap between their previous career and a bright future.
The programme will start this weekend at the Mid Wales Stages Rally – the first round of the 2016 MSA British Rally Championship.
