The Jaguar XE is celebrating its first birthday with an ecological victory.

The Jagaur XE, highly commended for its light and sturdy aluminium frame, has successfully reclaimed over 50,000 tonnes of metal via closed-loop aluminium recycling; this is the equivalent of 200,000 XE body shells, thus preventing 500,000 tonnes of CO2 from entering the atmosphere since production of the XE began a year ago.

REALCAR aluminium recycling is a trailblazing project, using 11 UK press shops to segregate waste aluminium scrap, putting it back into manufacture so it can be used to build Jaguar Land Rover vehicles. In 2014, the Jaguar XE was the first car to ever benefit from this process, using high-strength aluminium alloy. The results were so pleasing that Jaguar Land Rover invested £7 million into the project, spread across their own Halewood, Castle Bromwich and Solihull presses.

Today, this high-grade recycled aluminium has been introduced to the bodies of both the All-New Jaguar XF and F-PACE, with 95% less energy used in the aluminium production process.
