The new Matching Service is supported by the government and will help up to 10,000 candidates secure an automotive apprenticeship every year.
BMW Group currently employ over 200 apprentices in the UK, with around 1,000 applications for the available 50 spots per year. With the places being so over-subscribed, the Matching Service aims to collaborate with various UK car manufacturers in order to help promising candidates find a placement. Other employers include Bentley, Ford, GKN, Honda, Jaguar Land Rover, Nissan, Toyota and Vauxhall, with the provision for young talent hoping to build a strong workforce to meet growing demand.
A recent report has found that up to 5,000 job vacancies in the automotive sector could be unfilled due to the lack of skilled applicants, therefore the decision to aid the education of talented youngsters is considered essential to sustain productivity in the market.
The Matching Service will also take on a large amount of the administration for recruitment, meaning that both time and money is saved by companies looking to fill apprenticeship placements. This is hoped to fortify the UK job market as a whole, leading to brighter futures across the board.
