In April 2015, Top 20 Motor Retail Group, Ridgeway received an award for being one of the south’s most ambitious companies at an event at Fetcham Park House in Leatherhead.
What makes the award unique is that no company was able to put itself forward or be nominated. Instead, more than 5,000 companies in the south of England were researched against a set of measures. These were independently assessed by accountants Baker Tilly, law firm Rawlison Butler, and consultants Endgame Insight.
Upon receiving the award, John O’Hanlon, Ridgeway’s Chief Executive said: “It is a wonderful honour to be named as one of the south’s most ambitious companies alongside such prestigious brands as BP, Waitrose and Hewlett-Packard to name a few. This award reflects the passion, hard work and commitment of all of our colleagues during the last 18 months (in particular) as we embarked on a number of key acquisitions, new dealership builds and refurbishment and significant infrastructure improvements.” “2015 shows no signs of letting up either” John added.
“The criteria include a desire to build a business of some significance, to be a leader rather than a follower, and an ability to think, and act, strategically,” explained Jon Da Costa, a partner at Baker Tilly. At the award presentation, Tim Sadka, partner at Rawlison Butler said that an ambitious company has a determination to succeed regardless of any obstacles.
Ridgeway’s Chairman, David Newman commented “We are delighted to be recognised and fly the flag as the highest ranked Motor Retail Group on the Decision Magazine’s Top 500 companies in the south. We look forward to a successful 2015."
